European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Gibraltar was recently represented by Mr. Ian Leyde, of Gibraltar House, London at the Merchant Navy Memorial Day in Liverpool. A service, attended by representatives of People's Republic of China, India, the Netherlands and Canada paid respect to the 60,000 Merchant Navy sailors who died during World War II. Liverpool was the main base for the Battle of the Atlantic, in which 36,000 merchant seamen died.
The Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce has expressed concern over the recently implemented Employment (Bullying at Work) Act 2013. They claim that although it addresses an objective shared by all members, it is drafted in such a way as to create unwanted and unnecessary hurdles for business.
