European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
The GSD has once again renewed its calls for the Government to come clean and state whether Spanish Fishermen wishing to fish in BGTW with nets, will have to apply for a licence in Gibraltar.
It will be recalled that at the end of last year the Government introduced changes to the Nature Protection Act which were intended to be a first step in changes which would allow fishing in BGTW with EU compliant nets.
The Gibraltar Tourist Board is hosting two separate travel trade road shows in Birmingham and London, in an effort to further promote Gibraltar in the UK. Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport, and the Port Neil Costa MP, declared that it was vital that those on the ‘front line’ selling holidays to the Rock were kept fully abreast of the positive developments of Gibraltar as a tourist destination.
The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo visited the Tradewise Chess Festival this afternoon. The Chief Minister was met by tournament organiser Brian Callaghan, Tradewise chairman, James Humphreys, and tournament director Stuart Conquest.
