Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Chief Minister left Gibraltar yesterday for a visit to the United States. He first flies to Washington DC where he will have several meetings, at least one of which will be at the Congress. He will also meet Gibraltarian students on the Internship Program.
In a protest against the new rotation system implemented by the Customs Department, Unite the Union claims that it has not formed part of the negotiating process in the introduction of the new system . They add that although they no longer hold the negotiating rights for Customs Officers, however they do hold representational rights for their members.

The Department of the Environment will this week host their first ‘Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies Conference’ covering Geographical Information Systems, at the Rock Hotel. The conference has been jointly organised with the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee.
