Sep 17 - Garcia Meets With Clegg on Gibraltar Issues

lib dem conference The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia had the opportunity to discuss Gibraltar related matters with the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at the Liberal Democrat party conference in Glasgow. Dr Garcia was seated beside Mr Clegg during one of the conference dinners.

Dr Garcia took the opportunity to thank the Deputy Prime Minister for his own involvement in the issue by talking to his Spanish counterpart and expressed the gratitude of the Government and the people of Gibraltar at the staunch support which continues to be received from the UK Coalition Government of which the Liberal Democrats are a part.

Sep 17 - The Border of Shame – Cuervas Mons Takes a Walk into Gibraltar

cuervas monsHoy he vuelto a Gibraltar; hacía días que no iba y, desde que el descerebrado de Margallo decidió que se había acabado el recreo, a mí y, a muchos como yo, se nos acabó las oportunidades de trabajo, por lo que tampoco tenía mucho motivo para ir. Hoy he vuelto a Gibraltar y me he avergonzado de ser español, me avergoncé de la Guardia Civil, del despropósito en el que un gobierno golfo y corrupto ha convertido a La Línea: la cola de entrada era interminable y cuatro chulos de discoteca disfrazados de guardias civiles, y me pueden poner una querella por injurias porque tengo motivos sobrados para expresarme así, paraban, a la entrada a Gibraltar, a coches, motos, bicicletas y autobuses de turistas y se recreaban dando vueltas y más vueltas a los DNI de sus ocupante como si mirando un DNI, sin imputar sus datos en un ordenador, pudiesen comprobar sus antecedentes penales o como si en una bicicleta se pudiesen introducir bolsas de dinero de esas que supuestamente manejaba Barcenas y los golfos del PP.

Sep 17 - Strongmen to Carry Pillars of Hercules

logoThe end of the month will once again see top Strongman competition, Strongman Champions League, hosted in Gibraltar once more. The event attracts some of the strongest men in the world and is one of  the last of the 16 Grand Prix events, before the winner is declared.

The Strongman Champions League is broadcasted across the world and is filmed by Eurosport 1 & 2. Last year’s event was sponsored by the Government and was kicked off in Casemates Square. The championship featured a number of world class strongmen including the UK’s Terry Hollands and Estonia’s Lauri Nami, as well as local strongmen.

Sep 17 - Trade Unions Call For Dispute Update

uniteLocal Trade Union, Unite the Unite, along with Commissiones Abreras and Union General de Trabajadores of Andalucia, have agreed to ask their respective Governments for a series of meetings regarding the ‘escalating conflict’ and the Unions’ positions.

The Trade Union movement has expressed their concern over the deteriorating state of relations between Gibraltar and Spain, as well as its ‘repercussions upon their citizens and workers’.
