February 11th 2014 marks the annual ‘Safer Internet Day’, dedicated to increasing awareness on the dangers of the Internet and the education of Internet users, with particular focus on youngsters. The day is marked worldwide, with this year’s theme centring on creating a better Internet together.
A year into the first term, the Chief Minister stated to the European Union that Gibraltar would get up to scratch with all EU compliance and that it would never fall behind again. 25 months into his term, Fabian Picardo returns to Brussels triumphant, to show the EU Gibraltar’s “Culture of Compliance”.
Gibraltar Port will get a big boost to its cruise figures next year. Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced that its newest ship ANTHEM OF THE SEAS will call at Gibraltar seven times in 2015 during its inaugural season which sees it operating a series of Mediterranean cruises from Southampton. She will become the largest cruise ship ever to call here and while the smaller QUEEN MARY 2 has to anchor in the Bay because of her deep draft, ANTHEM will be able to dock alongside the Western Arm.
Cristina Rodriguez clinched the first prize in the Ministry of Culture’s Art Competition For Young Artists. Her piece “Together We Are Stronger” - a sculpture of a soldier made out of smaller toy soldiers - was awarded the top prize of £1,000 yesterday evening at the John Mackintosh Hall by adjudicator Jane Langdon.
