European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Cristina Rodriguez clinched the first prize in the Ministry of Culture’s Art Competition For Young Artists. Her piece “Together We Are Stronger” - a sculpture of a soldier made out of smaller toy soldiers - was awarded the top prize of £1,000 yesterday evening at the John Mackintosh Hall by adjudicator Jane Langdon.
As a result of Sunday’s storm, the Gibraltar International Airport suffered damage to the roof overhang in the North West Corner of the building. An airport spokesman noted that the damage was a direct result of high winds. The incident occurred at approximately midnight on Saturday night, when the storm was at its strongest. Although no injuries were reported, the area remains cordoned off until the wind dies down enough for technicians to inspect the damage.
The Gibraltar Government will shortly be introducing revised fishing procedures for the Detached Mole to take account of the relocation of the floating storage vessel the Vemaspirit.
Action 4 Schools was recently presented with a cheque for £1,000 by the Gibraltar Students Association. The funds were raised during Christmas by students at various functions and parties.
