National Day celebrates the referendum result 54 years ago, when Gibraltar voted by a landslide to remain British. Being in Main Street this morning, seeing all the flags and bunting, it is hard not to reflect on just how much history the United Kingdom and Gibraltar have shared and, importantly today, just how inseparable the UK and Gibraltar remain.
My dear fellow Gibraltarians,
On the eve of National Day 2021 I have received, through His Excellency the Governor, the congratulations and best wishes of Her Majesty the Queen.
A plaque in memory of a Royal Marine who lost his life in a diving accident in 1971 was unveiled in Gibraltar on Sunday 29th August.
