The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

The Government says that the Leader of the Opposition “needs to understand that if he is going to make unfounded claims and accusations against the Government, then the Government is not going to take this lying down.”

The GSD has today challenged Government to publish in full any documents it claims to have received from HSL in relation to the use and storage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Gibraltar. The party says it is “unacceptable” that in such an important debate the Government continues to provide only “isolated and unverifiable quotes” from documents it claims to have received but does not publish the document itself.
