The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, today met with the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon Lord David Cameron, at the Foreign Office in London in order to discuss the outstanding issues and matters in the ongoing negotiation with the European Union in relation to Gibraltar.
The Chief Minister yesterday visited Glacis Estate to inspect the ongoing refurbishments. In order to better understand tenants’ concerns about the works the Chief Minister met with representatives of the Tenants’ Association, as well as with individual tenants. The Chief Minister was accompanied by representatives of GJBS (the main contractor), the Ministry for Housing and the Housing Works Agency.
Gibtelecom celebrated the successful completion of the third intake of its communications apprenticeship scheme, launched in 2008, with a graduation reception at the Rock Hotel on Monday evening. Three apprentices graduated with a BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council)Diploma in Professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals.
The Minister with responsibility for Education, Gilbert Licudi, has commenced the University of Gibraltar Act and appointed The University of Gibraltar Limited as the initial governing authority for the University. The University is therefore now formally established as a statutory body.
