The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Department of the Environment and Climate Change is reminding anglers who practice sports fishing, as well as recreational boat users, of the need to adhere to the Cetacean Protocol. The Department says that its Environmental Protection & Research Unit will be closely monitoring vessel activity over the coming weeks, particularly sports fishermen employing ‘popping’ techniques, to ensure that the requirements of the Protocol are met.
