The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
This year there will be no balloon release on National Day. The cancellation of the annual release of thousands of balloons was confirmed by the Self Determination for Gibraltar Group (SDGG) this morning.
The Association of Retired Police Officers (ARPO) held their Annual General Meeting at the IPA club on Monday evening. The meeting was well attended despite the inclement weather.
The Governments of Gibraltar and of the Falkland Islands have reacted to the meeting and joint press conference that took place in Buenos Aires yesterday between the Foreign Minister of Argentina Susana Malcorra and the Caretaker Foreign Minister of Spain Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo and issued a joint statement arguing that the wishes of the people of both territories “must be paramount.”
