A novel by Sam Benady has been translated into Spanish. “The Keys of the City” which was written in the 1990s, tells the tale of the time when Gibraltar, which had recently been recaptured from the Moors, was sold by the Duke of Medina Sidonia to a group of conversos (families who were of Jewish origin, but converted - sometimes forcibly - to Christianity) who were fleeing persecution.
Based on crucial forecasting from local weather consultancy service Weather4Mountain, an Adventure Partners expedition team called time on their ascent of 7,000m Khan Tengri in Kazakhstan. From arrival at base camp, mid-July, conditions gradually worsened until the threat of severe snow storms and gales forced them to abandon a final push for the summit at the end of the month. All team members made it back to base safely.
