The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) says it is very pleased to see that many of the points which it raised with the Government have been taken on board and are included in the budget speech. In particular, the organization says it is delighted that the cost of utilities and social insurance have not been raised once again.
Minister for Health, Environment, Energy and Climate Change
The Hon Dr John Cortes MBE
Budget Speech 2015/2016
Mr. Speaker,
As I start this budget address, my fourth, and my last - before an election, I do so with an overwhelming sense of achievement and pride. And I do so also in my capacity as Gibraltar’s first Minister for Climate Change in Gibraltar, a title which I also carry with pride.
The GSD has said the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo appears intent on undermining freedom of speech after the Government raised its concerns regarding the party's use of unelected spokespersons.
