Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Gibraltar Cultural Services, working alongside playwright, actor, director, and teacher, Julian Felice, will be holding a new event on Saturday 24th January at the John Mackintosh Hall. The idea is styled on the very successful TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) series of talks (www.ted.com), Gib Talks will see a range of local speakers deliver fifteen-minute talks on a broad spectrum of subjects with the aim of focusing on the anecdotal, the personal, and the light-hearted as opposed to heavy-going academics and agendas.
At 1130hrs this morning, officers and civilian support staff of the RGP held a two-minute vigil in honour of their French colleagues who lost their lives in the Charlie Hebdo terror attack of yesterday and in this morning’s incident in the South of Paris.
Ten new recruits for the Gibraltar Defence Police started their training this week at the Buffadero Training Centre. The initial phase of their training is two weeks of Firearms Training which will qualify them on two weapon systems.
