Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Gibtelecom today hosted their annual telecommunications conference, attended by a series of Telecommunications providers from small states, including Andorra, the Faroe Islands, Malta, Guyana, Isle of Man, Iceland, Luxembourg and Greenland. Over 60 attendees are made up of former incumbent telecommunications companies from states with a population of up to 2 million. Gibtelecom plays and administrative role for the group, including the managing of financials and sub-contracting the consultant who assists in organising the annual event.
The following speech was delivered by the Chief Minister at a Gala Dinner in St. Michael's Cave on Tuesday evening. The dinner was part of a Gib-U.S trade mission.
The Sainsbury's School Games in the UK has thrown down the challenge to Gibraltar's best young athletes inviting them to compete in this year's Games in Manchester in September. The School Games are an annual, major, multi-sport, Olympic/Paralympic-style event involving 1,500 young people from across the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories taking part in a variety of sports over 3-4 days.
The vast majority of Gibraltar’s 11-12 year olds regularly use social networking sites according to a recent survey conducted by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA).
