Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Ministers for Sport and Equality Steven Linares and Samantha Sacramento have sent their best wishes to the Special Olympics Football Team participating in the Gareth Cowin Memorial Trophy taking place in Liverpool this weekend.
Following a meet up held by the Unite the Union Young Members Committee earlier this week the group has touched upon the high level of issues brought up by working youngsters. The committee insists that it is looking forward to successfully tackling all issues, and commits itself to working endlessly to improve workers’ conditions, rights and stability.
UEFA President, Mr Michel Platini will visit Gibraltar this Saturday in order to view the Rock Cup final. He will be accompanied by Theodore Theodoridis UEFA Deputy General Secretary, Jean Francios Domergue Head of Football Development at UEFA and Kevin Lamour Head of President’s Office. The UEFA president will watch the final as ‘Guest of Honour’ and will be introduced to both teams prior to kick off. He will then present the ‘Rock Cup’ to the winners after the game.
Ground works will take place within the runway section of Winston Churchill Avenue this weekend.
British Forces Gibraltar Contractors will carry out the works overnight on both Friday and Saturday to keep the traffic and airfield disruption to a minimum.
