European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
An announcement made by the Government this morning outlines the appointments of two senior staff members at the recently revealed Gibraltar International Bank, which is set for completion by the end of the year.
Mr. Lawrence Podesta, current COO and Deputy CEO of Swiss private bank Lombard Odier Gibraltar, will take on the position of Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank, on 2nd May 2014. Mr. Podesta has formerly occupied a number of senior position within the Bank including that of Financial Controller for the London office of LODH. His banking career kicked off as a Client Relationship Clerk with Barclays Bank in 1976.
February 11th 2014 marks the annual ‘Safer Internet Day’, dedicated to increasing awareness on the dangers of the Internet and the education of Internet users, with particular focus on youngsters. The day is marked worldwide, with this year’s theme centring on creating a better Internet together.

Gibraltar Port will get a big boost to its cruise figures next year. Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced that its newest ship ANTHEM OF THE SEAS will call at Gibraltar seven times in 2015 during its inaugural season which sees it operating a series of Mediterranean cruises from Southampton. She will become the largest cruise ship ever to call here and while the smaller QUEEN MARY 2 has to anchor in the Bay because of her deep draft, ANTHEM will be able to dock alongside the Western Arm.
