Gibraltar Port will get a big boost to its cruise figures next year. Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced that its newest ship ANTHEM OF THE SEAS will call at Gibraltar seven times in 2015 during its inaugural season which sees it operating a series of Mediterranean cruises from Southampton. She will become the largest cruise ship ever to call here and while the smaller QUEEN MARY 2 has to anchor in the Bay because of her deep draft, ANTHEM will be able to dock alongside the Western Arm.

As a result of Sunday’s storm, the Gibraltar International Airport suffered damage to the roof overhang in the North West Corner of the building. An airport spokesman noted that the damage was a direct result of high winds. The incident occurred at approximately midnight on Saturday night, when the storm was at its strongest. Although no injuries were reported, the area remains cordoned off until the wind dies down enough for technicians to inspect the damage.
