Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
This morning, procedural alarm tests are being carried out at the Gibraltar Naval base. This exercise coincides with the HMS Diamond’s training the bay today, before it sets off for further training out in the Strait, later on this afternoon.
Junior Chess in Gibraltar is an important part of the overall Tradwise Chess Festival features throughout this week. At the end of 2014 Gibraltar Masters this weekend a junior tournament – the Tradewise Gibraltar Junior Chess Championships - is organised by the organisers which will see some 120 young chess players from Gibraltar schools and the surrounding area. This junior tournament has grown alongside the main event and all players can register by picking up an entry form (including on the day by 12 noon) from the schools and Caleta Hotel.
