European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Continuing his tour of British Forces Gibraltar, His Excellency the Governor and his wife, Lady Dutton paid a visit to the HMS Tireless this morning. They were met by the Captain of HMS Tireless, Commander Hywel Griffiths, who escorted them around the vessel.
As another Pageant rolls around once more, the Ministry for Culture is looking for young ladies who wish to participate as participants in the Miss Gibraltar 2014 pageant. Candidates must be aged between 17 (as at 6th June 2014) and not more than 24 years old (as at 31st December 2014). The first 10 candidates to sign up for the Pageant will each receive £400. The winner of the Pageant will represent Gibraltar at the Miss World Pageant, to be held in London, in November 2014.
Last night at around 10pm, Customs officers gave chase to a suspect who had been sighted carrying three large bags north from Eastern Beach towards the frontier fence. Customs chased the man on foot and forced him to drop the bags. The man evaded capture by returning, empty-handed, to the public beach where he was collected by a second man driving a Spanish registered car.
The tender for the organisation, production and staging of the next four Miss Gibraltar Pageants has been jointly awarded to Stage One Productions and Santos Productions.
