Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
On Tuesday 3rd December St Joseph’s First School took part in World Disability day. This event is celebrated throughout the world and helps to promote public awareness through education and hopes to break barriers and build a more inclusive society. The aim of the day was to promote an understanding of what it means to have a disability and to help the children develop an awareness of needs, and respect of the differences between people in their local community.
The Royal Gibraltar Police Drug Squad has arrested and charged 18 year old local man, Daniel Gaivizo on suspicion of drugs offences.
Following searches of residential premises by Drug Squad officers assisted by the RGP Police Dogs Gaivizo, of Ark Royal House, Laguna Estate, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug, a total of approximately 107 grams of Cannabis Resin. He was later charged with possession with intent to supply 92.6 grams and possession of 107.9 grams.
The group has been born out of the need to defend the common socio-economic interests of the area and identifies the normalisation of movement across the frontier as its prime objective.
Yesterday morning the first meeting between representatives of unions and business associations from both sides of the frontier has been held. As a result it has been agreed to create and to operate a Cross-Frontier Group, as an instrument of cooperation and collaboration with particular reference to socio-economic issues and the defence of common interests.
The Gibraltar side is composed of: Unite GTA/NASUWT and GGCA together with the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce and GFSB. The Spanish side consists of business group APYMELL, and main unions CCOO and UGT.
Miss Gibraltar’s 1st Princess, Jamielee Randall, recently left Gibraltar to participate at the Miss International 2013, which is being held in Okinawa and Tokyo, Japan, in December.
On her arrival, Jamielee found herself with a full schedule of photo shoots, rehearsals, filming and touring the region. The highlight of her trip will be the Miss International Final to be held on Tuesday 17th December 2013.
