European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
The committee of Maroc Atlas held a darts stall at the Fair this summer where money was raised for two charities: Gibmission Africa and Special Olympics Gibraltar. Maroc Atlas is Gibraltar's only 4x4 Club, and was formed in 1994 as a Solidarity group taking supplies to children in the remotest parts of Morocco.
This morning the GFA Futsal National ‘A’ Team set off for Poland to participate in their second tournament since joining UEFA. The Friendly Four Nations Tournament will see them play Poland this Saturday, Belarus on Sunday and Turkey next Tuesday. Kick off times are set for 7pm, 4:30pm and 3:30pm.
Speaking to YGTV as the team gathered at the Gibraltar International Airport this morning, Head Coach Mario Prescott explained that the team was relatively new, with most of the players coming from 11 a side football teams. The two remaining players from the earlier futsal team that played in France earlier this year are Jansen Prescott and Joseph Chipol. Mario insisted that this is the first time many of the players are playing futsal. ‘They’re going to learn a lot there. These three teams are of a very high standard’.
The Opposition says it is concerned at the increase in tobacco smuggling activity in certain areas in Gibraltar which is now, according to them, “clearly getting out of control.”
The GSD says that it notes the “stark refusal by the Government to come clean” on whether changes to the Nature Protection legislation will allow Spanish Fishermen to fish with nets in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters without them actually having to apply for a licence in Gibraltar (e.g. by virtue of their existing membership of one of the Algeciras or La Linea Cofradias).
