Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
A total of over 110 kilos of cannabis resin has been seized by Spanish authorities in Algeciras during the last 48 hours in separate operations targeting drug smuggling. The smugglers had all made the journey across the Strait from Tangiers or Ceuta on ferries. Five people have been arrested.
A serial burglar was today sent to jail for 21 months after breaking into Bianca’s Restaurant and stealing almost £4,000 from a slot machine. Christian Baglietto also caused damage amounting to almost £10,000 during the burglary which took place at the end of July.
