Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The ESG has announced that this year’s plans for Clean up the World 2013 are now underway. In what is the 9th year of Gibraltar’s participation, we can confirm the widespread interest and support for this community campaign is as strong as ever. Over twenty team leaders attended a major planning meeting this week. A team of three cyclists have set off on a gruelling cycle ride from Jersey to Gibraltar in support of cancer care charities including Jersey Hospice Care, Gibraltar Cancer Relief and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
A 17 year old local youth and a 38 year old Spanish national were arrested by HM Customs yesterday evening at British Lines Road. Both persons were seen exporting goods over the frontier fence and were arrested under the provisions of the Imports and Exports Act.
