European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Three members of the Washington-based Margaret Thatcher Centre for Freedom have written an article in which they argue that the United States should “encourage Spain to cease its insolent behavior toward the people of Gibraltar and the U.K.”
Amongst many other messages of support in the last few days, the Chief Minister has received a letter from the Hon Ian Hansen of the Falkland Islands Government. The letter reads:
"The Prime Minister called the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, this morning to raise serious concerns about actions by the Spanish at the border with Gibraltar and suggestions from Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Garcia-Margallo that they may introduce further measures.
