June 21 - Gibraltar Team Help ADANA Dogs

Staff and volunteers at the ADANA kennels, in Estepona’s Pedregales Park, were delighted  to be joined by a team of young volunteers from Gibraltar.  The team, all of whom are employees of global insurance company AON, had volunteered to help to a much-needed clear-up job on the weeds and vegetation that had grown over the year in the dogs’ exercise runs.

June 21 - Defenders Congratulate Gib UN Delegation

The Defenders of Gibraltar would like to congratulate the Gibraltar UN delegation on their success at the United Nations last week.

A spokesperson said: “The emotional speeches delivered appear to have had an effect and evoked a response, which is extremely gratifying for us all to see. It would also appear that the C24 have even committed to sending teams to the nations on the list, like Gibraltar. This is fantastic news. 

We would also like to personally thank Mr Dennis Matthews and the SDGG for all of the extremely hard work and dedication they have shown over the years, for a cause so close to the heart of all Gibraltarians.

Jun 21 Garcia tackles Gibraltar-EU issues in Brussels

Garcia In BrusselsThe Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, has held a series of very useful back-to-back meetings in Brussels with officials of the European Commission and Members of the European Parliament.

A number of issues which affect Gibraltar in Europe were discussed during the meetings. This included on-line gaming, taxation, aviation, environmental and maritime matters. Dr Garcia also raised the continuing delays at the frontier.

The Deputy Chief Minister, at the invitation of the Chairman Liberal Democrat MEP Sir Graham Watson, also addressed a meeting organised by the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) on the subject of maritime security from a Gibraltar perspective. He told the audience, which included the European Commission and a number of NGOs, that Gibraltar was ideally placed at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and went over a number of security issues as they affect the Port of Gibraltar and British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW). The address was very well received and it was followed by a lively question and answer session.
