European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Training has been intense over the last couple of months for the team selected to take part in this year’s Annual Field Gun Run in Portsmouth. The team will fly out to the UK on Friday and will have a week on the track in preparation for the main event which starts on 31st May.
In the continuing Criminal Investigation Department inquiry into allegations of Fraud by False Representation officers have today arrested Mark Galia of 9 Sea Daffodil House, Waterport Terraces, on suspicion of Fraud by False Representation.
Saturday 11th May saw the start of the beach lifeguard weekend duty with 15 lifeguards having obtained their RLSS qualification. This service will complement the beach facilities, which have been open since 6th April and is in line with the commitment of the Government to roll out new services for the enjoyment of all beach users.
The Government said: “The Gibraltar Tourist Board is currently undertaking a refurbishment programme to ensure that the beaches and facilities are finished to the highest possible standard. As the public is aware, some works are still in progress and will be completed shortly; in particular, the works still being carried out at Camp Bay, Eastern Beach and Catalan Bay in order to provide improved accessible facilities. Further details on the accessibility project will be made public shortly in conjunction with the Ministry for Social Services and Equality.”
