Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Hearts and Minds Challenge from Greater Manchester will be taking part in “The CyclingBuddy Charity Challenge” cycling 300 miles in 4 days. Amongst the 21 cyclists taking part are Keith Duffy from Boyzone and Coronation Street, and Rik Waddon silver medalist at the Paralympics. Alan Montegriffo and Ryan Montegriffo are joining the support team throughout the challenge.
Gibtelecom has apologised for the interruption to its mobile services today. This followed a Gibelec power failure throughout Gibraltar this morning. Gibtelecom was largely able to maintain its fixed line, internet, business enterprise and data centre services, but the power outage affected some Gibtelecom mobile equipment.
Training has been intense over the last couple of months for the team selected to take part in this year’s Annual Field Gun Run in Portsmouth. The team will fly out to the UK on Friday and will have a week on the track in preparation for the main event which starts on 31st May.
