Officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police’s Serious Crime Unit have arrested a 53 year old local woman on suspicion of Theft, False Accounting and Fraud. The investigation relates to missing monies from a local business.
The PDP have said that they welcome the long awaited announcement from the present administration concerning the new natural gas power station to be constructed at the North Mole. They also note that the news has also been welcomed by the ESG who, they said, “seem to have been consulted and are happy with the improvement in noise and air pollution in residential areas that the new plant will ensure once the old stations are decommissioned.”
The PDP say that, given that the new power station will be located on the North Mole, the residents in neighbouring areas will receive the necessary comfort and assurances so that they feel completely comfortable that one nuisance is not being replaced with another.
The PDP repeated that they had for years been highlighting the urgent need to address Gibraltar’s power generation problem as a priority. They said Gibraltar’s generating capacity and aging grid are under increasing pressure to provide an uninterrupted supply. They stressed that this was “a basic and essential service that Gibraltar requires for both the domestic and business user in a modern society.”
Childline Gibraltar have announced a multidisciplinary day conference to be held on Wednesday 5th June. The conference, titled “Working Together to Safeguard Children” will take place at the Eliott Hotel.
The main speaker will be John Cameron who is Head of Child Protection Operations at the NSPCC and the topics to be covered on the day will include the Savile Case and Operation Yewtree, current guidance and its impact on good multidisciplinary practice, the managing and sharing of child abuse information, working with anonymous disclosures, NSPCC campaigns and the issue of online abuse.
The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo is in Seville today to attend a series of talks on “Gibraltar, 300 years after the Treaty of Utrecht.” Several speakers are participating including the Spanish Ambassador to the 3rd UN Conference on Maritime Law, Jose Antonio Barberan and Professor of International Law, Pablo Antonio Fernandez Sanchez. The Chief Minister will address the conference on the “Gibraltarian Dimension of Gibraltar.”
