Gibraltar GSDGSD Opposition Spokesman for Justice, Selwyn Figueras, has today signalled his party’s support for the provision of a permanent berth in sheltered waters on the East Side of the rock for use by our law enforcement agencies, promised by the Government at the time of the last general election, to assist in the fight against seaborne and other forms of tobacco smuggling activity in the area.

May 07 - Opposition Questions Sunborn Planning Process

gsdFollowing the last meeting of the Development and Planning Commission (‘DPC’), the GSD Opposition is concerned at the extent to which the proposed Floating Hotel in the Marina Bay complex appears to be a done deal.

A Shadow Inter-Ministerial Committee made up of Opposition spokesmen for planning, environment and tourism, (Selwyn Figueras, Jaime Netto and Damon Bossino, respectively) has been formed to review all relevant issues being raised with the Opposition in respect of this particular Government project.

May 07 - AN EVENING AT GIBRALTAR HOUSE WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS

British Airways in Gibraltar HouseThe Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) hosted an event at Gibraltar House in London in association with British Airways (BA) on 29th April.

BA flies daily from Heathrow to Gibraltar and twice daily on Saturdays and Sundays. The airline provides a very welcome connection through London to the rest of the world.

The Gibraltar Tourist Board consistently supports BA’s services in the form of marketing campaigns, mainly centred on features in the HighLife magazine and advertising on on-line boarding passes, among other activities.

May 07 - Former Gib Singer Performs on The Voice

georgia thursting19-Year-old Georgia Thursting began performing live at Gibraltar’s Rock on the Rock club when she was 13, she now studies at Leeds College of Music after taking a year out in London to pursue her music career.

Georgia was scouted to perform on the popular national UK talent show, The Voice UK, last September, after her sister posted one of her videos on Facebook. Commenting on the show Georgia noted that she had always been sceptical about talent shows, but thought she might as well take up the opportunity.
