May 07 - RGP Hosts Crime Scene Investigator’s Workshop for Youngsters

rgpThe Royal Gibraltar Police launched a new initiative for 10-11 year old students on Saturday the 4th of May. The CSI Workshop provided pupils with an exiting, hands-on program that exposed them to real crime scene techniques at a level appropriate for their age. They experienced fingerprinting, the lifting of shoeprints, examining hairs and fibres and the obtaining of DNA as evidence. The main objectives of the workshop were to introduce pupils to forensic science, show them how the police applies science in crime investigations and teach pupils practical work using scientific methods.

The programme was devised in consultation with the Department of Education through their Education Advisor and sought to incorporate learning from their own science curriculum, applying the learning to the science of forensics.

May 07 - Gibraltar Hosts EU Project Peer Review on Climate Change

dr cortesMinister for Health and the Environment, Dr. John Cortes this morning announced that Gibraltar has been chosen to host the second peer review visit for the EU Cities Adapt Project, which aims to provide capacity building and assistance in the development and implementation of an adaptation strategy to deal with the predicted impacts of climate change.

The visit is to be carried out over the next couple of days and includes a number of representatives from other participating cities, including Barcelona, Zadar, Rotterdam and Arcadis. Project partners ICLEI and Ricardo-AEA are also attending.

May 07 - Post Office Launches New Website

post office websiteThe Royal Gibraltar Post Office has today launched their new website, www.post.gi. The website features a clean, smart, and uncluttered design intended to impart information clearly and effectively. It also has a tablet/ smart phone friendly format.

The Track and Trace feature is aimed at providing information on all bar-coded services, for both outgoing as well as incoming mail items. To make use of this service just type the postal reference number (normally next to the barcode) without any spaces (eg- RR123456789GI) in the field provided.
