govtCommenting on the address made by Dr. Chris Tydeman, the Chairman of the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum, in his evidence before the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, last week, the Government has claimed that the information given by Dr. Tydeman reflects information available to him as a result of the work he has done for the Government of Gibraltar.  They insist that no issue has been taken with the scientific information given by Dr. Tydeman during his address.

The Government does note that the opinion of Dr. Tydeman as to the role of His Excellency the Governor, and the manner in which he has acted in relation to the issue of illegal incursions into Gibraltar Territorial Waters, with regards to the fishing dispute, is incorrect.

Apr 22 - Support for Mental Health

mental health support The Psychological Support Group, the Gibraltar Clubhouse Project and the Mental Welfare Society joined forces for the Wear Yellow campaign to raise awareness and support for mental health issues. On Thursday their stand at the Piazza was visited by Minister for Health, Dr John Cortes, and the Minister for Equality and Social Services, Samantha Sacramento.

Apr 22 - GSD Visit Varyl Begg Estate

gsdAs part of the GSD’s continuous Outreach Programme of visiting estates and meeting with associations, GSD MPs visited Varyl Begg Estate social club and met with around 30 constituents on Friday evening.
Daniel Feetham, Leader of the Opposition, who grew up in the estate, was delighted to go back to his roots and to engage with the tenants. Commenting on the visit, he said, ‘I would like to thank those who run the social club for their warm welcome and to all those who met with us for a drink.’
