Feb 07 - Royal Marines 350th Anniversary Gibraltar Rock Run

rock run 2014In order to celebrate and honour 350 years of the Royal Marines, 350 Marines will carry out the annual Rock Run on October 24th 2014. The weekend will include a number of festivities set to celebrate the Corps’ birthday including brunch at the naval base, a lunch with the Governor and a prestigious birthday party at the Khaima.

The run will begin in Casemates Square and end at the top of the Rock. The team aims to raise £6 million for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, which will help Marines who have been wounded in Afghanistan.

The letter read, ‘Sir,

Your otherwise excellent editorial for Tuesday 5th February on Argentina and the Falkland Islands is wrong only in one material respect. Successive British Foreign Secretaries have insisted that they will not engage bilaterally with Spain on Gibraltar issues, referring their counterparts to the Trilateral Process for Dialogue in which the UK, Spain and Gibraltar have agreed to discuss all matters of mutual interest except sovereignty.

Feb 07 - Government Responds to Feetham ‘Electoral Fraud’ Comments

govtFollowing his appointment as GSD leader, Daniel Feetham accused the GSLP/ Liberal Government of perpetrating an ‘electoral fraud’ on the electorate, for not being able to deliver their manifesto commitments. The Government has today responded to the claim, noting that it is absurd and betrays a lack of understanding of what happened when the GSD repeated a number of pledges in two General Election manifestos because they were unable to deliver those pledges on time.
