Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Government has rejected the statement by the new Special Needs Action Group (SNAG) which questioned the reference in the Minister for Education's Budget Speech to relations with St Martin’s School Parents’ Association being closer than ever.
Mr. Speaker, today I have been asked by the Leader of the Opposition, to draw together some of the themes that we have highlighted in this year’s debate and respond, where relevant, to some of the speeches from the Government side.
This is my thirteenth address to this House in what is known as the Budget Debate and I wish to commence with sports-related matters by saying that I am a firm believer in unity, where possible, for the benefit of Gibraltar’s greater interests.
