European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
This morning, at the Coroner’s Court, Sir Jonathan Parker QC opened the first preliminary hearing of the Dr Giraldi Home inquiry of which he is Chairman. The hour-long session covered procedural aspects of the inquiry focussing on case management and the timetabling of the main events leading up to the main hearing which is scheduled for the end of September. The inquiry will include the hearing of oral evidence during open public sessions.
Officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police’s Marine Unit were in the early hours of Tuesday the 18th of June alerted to the presence of a suspect vessel within BGTW.
The officers deployed in an interceptor vessel with the Gibraltar Defence Police in support. The suspect vessel which was subsequently located about a mile south from Europa Point was identified as a seven metre Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat with two occupants on board. The vessel was seen to be laden with bales suspected to contain Cannabis Resin.
The October 2012 employment survey results have now been published and show the massive and unprecedented success of the policies introduced by the GSLP/Liberal Government on the 9th December 2011, by the increasing full time employment levels for Gibraltarians and other long term residents.
Two cases of tuberculosis (TB) have been confirmed locally within the past 48 hours. The first case is the parent of a 4-year old child who is also infected.
