June 19 - Day Centres Annual Verbena

The Care Agency organised its annual verbena for people who attend its elderly citizens’ day centres. This year it took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Calpe Rowing Club where day centre members were able to enjoy the beautiful views and sea breeze.

The day centres provide social interaction and a range of stimulating activities for elderly citizens and this popular annual event gives them the opportunity to catch up with old friends and mix with new ones from the different day centres.

June 19 - Treaty Of Utrecht Stamps Issued

The Government and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau are issuing two stamps to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the Treaty of Utrecht 1713-2013 on the 20th June.

The 10p and 42p stamps come in a se-tenant format and feature the United Kingdom flag and a quote from Article X of the Treaty of Utrecht “...forever without any exception or impediment whatsoever”.

June 19 - PDP Launches By-Election Manifesto – Cruz To Focus On Constructive Politics

Nick Cruz, PDP leader and a candidate in July’s by-election, this morning launched his manifesto. He described his campaign as a “really exciting and fresh opportunity for Gibraltar” and repeated his central message that, if elected, he would work to revolutionise how politics is conducted locally. Describing the current situation as “party squabbling,” he promised a more constructive approach that would move away from “acrimony and partisan politics.”

June 19 - Convent Open Day On 29th June

On Saturday 29th June, Sir Adrian and Lady Johns will once again be hosting the highly popular Convent Open Day.

The garden, which has undergone significant re-planting over the past two years, will be the setting for cream teas, gardening and plant stalls, children’s activities and the ever popular jazz quintet from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band. The formal rooms of the Convent, including the newly-refurbished Ballroom and Banqueting Hall with its extensive display of heraldry will also be open to the public to visit. Throughout the day there will also be displays by the Gibraltar Defence Police Dog Section, the Raptor Society and the Gibraltar Re-enactment Association.
