Jun 12 - Gibraltar Heritage Trust Annual Painting Competition

ghtYesterday evening the Gibraltar Heritage Trust held their annual painting competition. This year’s theme centered around the Grand Battery. His Excellency the Governor presented the awards during a ceremony held at the John Mackintosh Hall, where all entries will be exhibited between the 12th and 14th of June.

Within the Children’s category highly commended awards were presented to Aaron Brier, Maya Breeze, Cadie Pedder and Alba Narvaez Carseni. Third prize was awarded to Christina Daswani Hurtado, and first and second prizes were presented to Lauren Birt and Abigael Bellingan.

June 12 - GSD Candidate Signs On

mMarlene Hassan-Nahon, the GSD’s candidate for the by-election, signed on at Parliament this morning. She was accompanied by GSD Members of Parliament and her election agent Elliott Phillips.

Ms Nahon was officially announced as a candidate last week at the GSD headquarters and is running for the seat vacated after the death of GSLP Minister Charles Bruzon.

June 12 - Independent Bryan Zammit Calls For End To Party Politics

zaaBusinessman and active social media figure Bryan Zammit signed on as an independent candidate for July’s by-election this morning at the Gibraltar Parliament. Mr Zammit says the main thrust of his campaign would be to “bring an end to party politics.”

He payed his respects to the late Charles Bruzon but said that, however tragic the reasons behind the by-election, it was really the “only chance” for an independent candidate to get into Parliament saying that a vote for the parties already represented would amount to a “wasted vote.”

Jun 12 - Samantha Sacramento Stands in as Chief Minister

samantha sacramentoStanding in as Chief Minister whilst Fabian Picardo and Dr. Joseph Garcia address the UN Delegation of 24 in New York this week, Minister for Equality and Social Services Samantha Sacramento this morning arrived at No.6 Convent Place, where she will work from until the Chief Minister returns on Thursday.

Commenting to YGTV on how she feels about being appointed acting Chief Minister, Minister Sacramento explained that it is ‘an absolute privilege to be able to have this experience’. Speaking on how she felt when she was asked to take on the task, Minister Sacramento added, ‘it was a very humbling moment when we discussed it.’
