The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Number Six has said that the latest statement issued by the Opposition following an “informal straw poll” of some doctors is “little more than another transparent attempt to distort information for party political ends.” The Government says that the GSD has chosen to rely on an unofficial survey from a sample of only 31 doctors out of a total of 81.5 full time doctors in employment.
The Minister for Equality, Samantha Sacramento, has today published the Disability Bill, new legislation that is modelled on the UN Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and which will be referred to as Agnes’ Law in memory of the late Agnes Valarino, former Chairperson of the Disability Society.
